Jurgen Klopp revealed that Roberto Firmino would miss Liverpool's Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday.
The Brazilian forward was originally scheduled to be away for 10 days or two weeks, according to Klopp, but the 31-year-old "felt something," leading to the longer absence.
"In the first moment it was like a little injury, estimated 10 days – two weeks. He did the normal rehab stuff, all the experts told us what we could do. Then Bobby felt again, something. That kept him out for longer. I don’t know exactly when he will be back, he’s not close to team training," Klopp said of the striker's injury.
Despite the addition of attacking quality in previous transfer windows, Firmino remains a key player of Klopp's Liverpool side, appearing in 13 Premier League games this season, scoring seven goals and assisting on five more.
And his extended absence is sure to be a big blow to Klopp, who is already missing key strikers Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Nunez, who suffered an injury on Thursday.
The Liverpool manager said that the club is still waiting for details on the seriousness of the situation in the aftermath of the incident.
"If he can not train today then yes, that will rule him out. We are waiting for information. It's not a major one but it still kept him out of training. We have to wait for that," he said.
Klopp did, however, reveal that Stefan Bajic and James Milner had both regained fitness.
The Reds head to the south coast to face eighth-placed Brighton, who will leapfrog Liverpool if Roberto De Zerbi's men win on Saturday.
